How to Start the Day Without Coffee

Starting your day without coffee can feel like a nightmare, but it is doable if you take action to build up your energy in other ways. Here are a few tips to help get the day started without coffee.

Replace It

If the idea of removing coffee from your morning routine leaves you with an empty void, don’t be afraid to fill it with an alternative such as water, tea, orange juice, or a breakfast shake.

Get in Your Morning Workout

For some people, a morning workout sounds unattainable. However, working out first thing in the morning provides an incredible energy boost that can last long into your day. All it takes is the motivation to get started. To help yourself out, start the night before: Lay out your workout clothes and prepare your space with all the equipment you need so that you don’t have to do any setup first thing in the morning.

Listen to Music

While you’re making breakfast, brushing your teeth, and otherwise getting ready in the morning, listen to a song that you love and go about your routine as you normally would. You can even turn on your favorite station and just let it play in the background. Just as listening to music in the car can change your attitude on the road, listening to positive, upbeat music in the morning can set your mood and increase your energy for the day.

Step Outside

Nature is energizing, which means that simply stepping outside first thing in the morning can provide you with the natural energy needed to get through the day. You can walk around the block or even just sit on your porch with a glass of orange juice. You’d be surprised how invigorating breathing in fresh air can be.

Invest in a Sun Lamp

If it’s too cold to step outside during the winter months, you can simulate that nature with a sun lamp, which can boost your endorphins and energy. Bonus points if you invest in a sunrise alarm, as you’ll have a natural way to wake up that provides you with all of the energy benefits that you would typically get from being outside.
