Alone and Bored? Do This!

Whether you’re an extrovert who loves to spend your time out and about or an introvert who prefers to stay at home, alone time can be a struggle. Here are some great at-home activities for a party of one that will keep you from binge-watching your life away.

Get Involved With a Cause

If you find yourself all alone, mind wandering, you might want something to focus it on. One option is to find a cause you care about and research how you can get involved. Then, sign up for volunteer shifts or plan some social media posts to start the conversation.

Take Time to Meditate

With the hustle and bustle of our jobs and daily lives, it’s easy to get out of touch with yourself. Using alone time to meditate and recenter is a great way to monitor mental health.

Goal Setting

Sit down, grab a pen, and jot down where you are today. Then, craft a plan of attack for working toward where you want to be. Return to these goals whenever you need a quick motivation boost.

Cook a Meal

Alone time is great for practicing your cooking skills! The stakes are lower when there’s no family around to feed, and you can tailor the meal to your preferences. Cooking can be a great escape and, depending on the complexity of your dish of choice, prepping it, eating it, and cleaning up could keep you entertained for a while!

Organize

This is an activity you might consider if you’ve been slacking on the organization around your home. Identify one area to start, then take it apart and plan how you’re going to make sense of it. For example, if your closet is a wreck, perhaps you want to sort it by color or season. If it’s your pantry, maybe you sort food by type or expiration date.

Read a Book

Reading can help you learn a new skill, get informed on a new topic, or just escape from reality for a bit. This is the perfect option if you want to unplug and unwind.

The Bottom Line

Enjoy your alone time! Knowing how to occupy your alone time provides multiple opportunities for self-care, productivity, and more. If you don’t know where to start, try these activities first.
