Fashion Trends We Forgot About (That We Hope to Forget Again)

We’ve welcomed back some returning fashion trends – like acid stonewash jeans, overalls, tie-dye, flannels, and Dr. Martens – with open arms. But others we happily forgot about until we dug through some old photos. And, well, we wish we didn’t! Here are fashion trends that we forgot about…and we hope to forget again!

Bubble Dresses and Hems

We have no idea why bubble dresses and hems were the “it” thing! But we saw stars wearing them on the red carpet, and we begged our parents to buy us dresses with this high-fashion detail. And we didn’t stop there! We also donned spaghetti-strap bubble-hem tops with boot-cut jeans, flip-flops, and a shrug.

Skinny Jeans in Every Print and Color

Plain denim skinny jeans? We think not! In the early 2010s, you weren’t anyone without crazy skinny jeans. Every pair of skinnies was snakeskin, leopard print, lime green, coral, or all of the above. And for what? It was just a sign of the times!

Peep-Toe Pumps

Our favorite thing about the peep-toe trend is that we really thought we were onto something when we paired them with jeans and capri pants. And we didn’t just want them in black; we wanted them in every color of the rainbow.

Enormous Handbags

For some reason, we thought we needed to fit everything in our handbags back in the 2000s: multiple lip glosses, the latest issue of Cosmo, clothes for the gym, skincare products, a few body sprays, the list goes on! We needed a big, gaudy bag to carry all of these things – and the more embellishments, the better.

Capri Pants

You know you owned at least one pair! What else would you wear with those lace camis and peep-toe pumps? We wish we were joking, but this was an outfit we lived for in the 2000s. Bonus style points if the capris were low-rise!

Dresses Over Jeans

This look is giving us Disney Channel kid star vibes, but we really thought we were cool in these types of ensembles.

All the Boho

Boho was a whole look, from the feathers in the hair and the tribal print waterfall cardigan to the boot-cut jeans tucked into our fringe boots. Somewhere, distantly, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are playing.
