Have you ever experienced a panic attack? What about anxiety? Trust us; you’re not alone. But the good news is that there are a variety of tools available to self-soothe and manage panic and anxiety. We spoke with Adi Wallach, co-creator of CalmiGo, a drug-free solution to treating anxiety. Here’s what we discovered.

The Inspiration Behind CalmiGo

Wallach says she started having panic attacks while she was a student. She wanted to avoid medication, so she tried everything from therapy to relaxation techniques, herbal supplements, and more to help cope. “While these tools and techniques helped me decrease the frequency of attacks, I found that it was very hard for me to implement them during the attacks themselves,” Wallach shares. “I was searching for something, anything, that I could take with me that would help me get through these moments of distress.” When she didn’t find it, she and her mom decided to create it.

What Is CalmiGo?

CalmiGo is a handheld device designed to help relieve individuals during panic attacks. It uses quad-sensory technology and scents to help bring rapid relief during a panic attack. The device itself can last many years, and the scented capsules need to be replaced every three to six weeks, depending on the user’s sensitivity to scents.

Does It Work?

CalmiGo has gone through several clinical studies and is currently part of four ongoing studies. “It was proved that CalmiGo provides relief in just three minutes of use,” Wallach says, adding that the device should be used for three minutes “to ensure that the parasympathetic nervous system is activated, and the body is transitioning to rest and digest mode.”

The Benefits of CalmiGo Scents

ClamiGo offers three scents:

  • Lavender is a soothing scent whose medicinal history traces back over 2,500 years. It is traditionally used to calm and relieve tension and is great to use right before sleep.
  • Peppermint is used in aromatherapy to help refresh, reinvigorate, and increase memory function.
  • Bergamot (citrus) has historically been used to reduce stress and anxiety and improve positive feelings.

CalmiGo plans to release more scents in the future based on proper research and customers’ preferences.

Wallach says the impact CalmiGo has had has been life-changing. Her last panic attack was over 4.5 years ago. She uses the peppermint before important presentations or meetings to improve her focus and the lavender at bedtime. Her daughters and husband use it, too! We at Rethink Beautiful also tried it and loved it!
