Our Five Favorite Self-Tanning Products

You don’t need us to tell you why you should avoid tanning beds. Instead, try these self-tanning products that you can use in the comfort of your own home on your own time.

Tan-Luxe Hydra-Mousse ($49, shop here)

Tanning at home can be messy; however, the Tan-Luxe Hydra-Mousse has an easy, mess-free application with zero transfer. The lightweight formula is blendable and consistent, drying in about 20 minutes with no streaks or patches. You can expect color to stick around for about a week, which is the only drawback for the price.

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer ($9.79, shop here)

Jergens is our ultimate drugstore pick! All you have to do is replace your daily moisturizer with this gradual tanning product for a natural glow. Oh, and at under $10, it’s a steal.

St. Tropez Self-Tan Express Bronzing Mist ($39.10, shop here)

If you prefer a mist over a mousse or cream, try St. Tropez’s Self-Tan Express Bronzing Mist. We love that this product gives you control over how dark or light your tan will be. Note that while the formula is quick-drying, it still takes a couple of hours to process, so it will continue to darken over time. The tan lasts about 4-5 days and fades evenly.

Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Drops ($29, shop here)

Just when you thought self-tanning couldn’t get easier, we present these drops from Isle of Paradise. Simply add a couple of drops to your daily moisturizer and apply as normal. The formula blends quickly with no stick residue and lasts about four days. Just make sure to wash your hands after you apply!

+Lux Unfiltered N°36 Supernatural Tanning Mousse ($48, shop here)

This natural, lightweight formula is made with sunflower and papaya extracts that hydrate and nourish. Don’t be alarmed by the color when it comes out; it is naturally dark but won’t stain. It comes with a buffing mitt and takes about 30 minutes to dry completely. You should start seeing results within four hours.
