The Most Important Meal of the Day: On-the-Go

We call it the most important meal of the day, and yet so many of us skip it in favor of an additional 10 minutes of sleep. So, how do you ensure you eat your breakfast without compromising your schedule? Here are a few on-the-go breakfast tips.

Don’t Lie to Yourself

One of the main reasons people skip breakfast is convenience. And if you typically have a hard time getting up in the morning, planning to get up even earlier to squeeze in a meal just isn’t realistic. Instead, work around your current schedule. If you get up with just enough time to get out the door, make sure you always have simple grab-and-go breakfast items available.

Opt for the Right Equipment

While “equipment” might sound odd when talking about breakfast, it can completely change the game for you. For example, if you’d love a smoothie every morning but don’t have the time to make one, invest in an on-the-go personal blender, and pre-fill it the night before! This can also be done with an at-home blender.

Pack It in Advance

You may be skipping breakfast to get to the office on time, but if you pack your breakfast the night before, just as you would pack a lunch, you’re constantly prepared. There’s no rule that says you have to eat breakfast at home – so when you’re on the move, bring your breakfast along with you! Who says you can’t eat a pre-made healthy muffin, banana or cold pre-packed fruit cup on the move!

Don’t Prioritize Your Coffee

Yes, for many of us, coffee is a priority. However, it shouldn’t be prioritized over breakfast. While it can give you a jolt of energy in the morning, coffee doesn’t provide nearly the same amount of nutritional benefits as a well-balanced breakfast. You can certainly start your morning with a cup of joe; just make sure the priority is getting in that first meal of the day.

Add Some Variety

Many people skip breakfast due to the monotony. You may grab a granola bar on the way out the door, but after a while, that breakfast becomes much less enticing. Make sure you’re changing things up to keep your breakfast interesting. Opt for different on-the-go alternatives so that you don’t start skipping the meal entirely, like cereal in a cup – just add milk and run!
