A Budget-Friendly Trip to Disneyland

It doesn’t matter how old you are: Disneyland is for everyone. After all, who can resist the “Happiest Place on Earth”?! But, we admit, going there is not cheap. Over the years, Disney has raised prices for all of its theme parks, making it hard to justify a trip. That’s why we’ve put together a list of tips and tricks to keep your visit within budget!

Accommodations

Staying on property can eat up a lot of your Disneyland budget. Instead, we recommend staying off-property at one of Disney’s 57 Good Neighbor Hotels. You can filter through and find the best property to fit your price and amenity preferences.

Tickets

Save money on Disneyland tickets by planning your trip during the off-season. Disneyland has fewer crowds from mid-September through mid-November and mid-January through mid-March. Although a price break isn’t a guarantee, it is likelier than during peak season. We also recommend purchasing a multi-day Disneyland ticket. And you get an even better overall deal if you buy a multi-day Park Hopper ticket to visit Disneyland and California Adventure.

Food

If you’re going to Disneyland on a budget, you’ll likely not want to go to sit-down restaurants for every meal. Instead, look for quick counter-service restaurants that offer affordable dining. Download the Disneyland app to easily find counter-service restaurants within Disneyland and California Adventure. Or, bring your own food and beverage!

Shopping

Disney parks have some of the best merchandise. Unfortunately, these gifts and souvenirs can be pricey. Set a spending budget for merchandise ahead of time and stick to it. If you have a Disney Rewards Visa, you can earn Disney money before your trip and redeem rewards dollars for tickets, resort stays, dining, and shopping! The card also gives you 10% savings on select merchandise and dining at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Transportation

If you are flying into LAX, you can book a shuttle that picks you up at the airport and takes you to your hotel. You can find a breakdown of transportation options from LAX, John Wayne Airport, Long Beach Airport, and Burbank Airport on the Disneyland website.
