Not All Juices Are Created Equal: How To Determine The Best Juice For Your Health

Not all juices are created equal. Some are laced with so much sugar and other odd preservatives that the quality is reduced to less than a soda. But, if you do your due diligence, you can find juices that are pretty decent without having to squeeze the fruits yourself.

Here’s a list of some of the best and worst juices for your health ranging from store bought to homemade. This list comes courtesy of U.S. News and World Report – Health.

Homemade Juices – Homemade juice is an excellent source of vitamins and nutrients because it’s coming directly from the source. The only time to be cautious is if you’re adding sweeteners such as sugar, or honey. Keep in mind that homemade juice should be consumed right away, otherwise it starts to lose it’s nutrients.

Store Bought Juice: If you see cartons or bottles of juice, you may be ready to turn the other way. But if it claims to have 100% fruit juice, it may be okay. These sort of juices normally are a great source of vitamin C, potassium, folate and thiamine. However, too much can lead to an overconsumption of sugar and calories.

Cold-Pressed Juices: The magical thing about cold-pressed juices is that it uses pressure instead of heat to destroy harmful organisms. They have a much shorter shelf life, but can taste just as delicious as homemade juice.
