Foods That’ll Help Reverse Vitamin D Deficiency

Did you know most people are seriously lacking vitamin D? Vitamin D manages calcium in your bones, blood and gut and helps the body’s cells operate properly. Because it’s so important, it isn’t a vitamin that you want to be deficient in. Yet, most people are. This is especially true during the winter months when there is less opportunity to soak up the sun. The best way to get vitamin D is through the sun as very few foods have it. Also, it’s a great idea to take vitamin D supplements. However, if you are interested in incorporating it into your diet, here are some foods that are a pretty good sources of vitamin D:

1 – Salmon: Salmon is a fish that’s a good source of vitamin D. Research has uncovered that wild salmon actually contains 25% more vitamin D than farm raised fish. That’s important to keep in mind when at the grocery store.

2 – Tuna: Tuna fish is another great source of vitamin D. This is a good thing because it’s inexpensive and has a very long shelf life. In addition to vitamin D, it’s also a great source of vitamin K and niacin.

3 – Orange Juice: Everyone’s not into fish, and that’s okay. You can totally get vitamin D from other sources like orange juice. Simply drink a glass or include it as part of your salad dressing.

4 – Eggs: Egg yolk (yes, the yellow part most people hate) is  a great source of vitamin D. It’s best to go with eggs from free range chickens for higher levels of vitamin D.
