Stressed Out? Don’t Forget to Breathe!

Managing work and personal relationships can take a toll on anyone; it’s normal to feel overwhelmed sometimes. If you take a few deep breaths when you start to get anxious, you’ll feel the stress melt away and realize you can handle anything!

These breathing techniques can make you feel instantly better when you are feeling stressed.

Breath focus

By practicing this technique, you will be required to focus on a location as you try to take deep breaths in. Here are the steps needed for breath focus:

  1. Close your eyes
  2. Breathe in
  3. Visualize a calm place filled with tranquility
  4. Breathe out the tension
  5. Repeat the process for about 10 to 15 breaths

While you’re at it, you can repeat to yourself, “I release the stress and tension. I breathe in peace and calmness.”.

Progressive muscle relaxation

When using this technique, as you breathe in, you tense a group of muscles, and as you breathe out, you release the muscles. It is best to do this on a flat surface while lying down.

Breathe out and breathe in equally

By using this technique, you are trying to eliminate stress by balancing how much time you take to breathe in with the time you take to breathe out. The goal is to balance the breath in and out for equal counts.

Stress is not a friend to your body or overall health. Combat it with these breathing techniques!
