No, The Holidays Aren’t Cancelled This Year

Let’s face it, we’re all ready to press fast forward on the rest of 2020 and see what 2021 has in store for us—it has to be better, right? It’s been a year to say the least, and we’re all ready to throw on our sparkly pajamas and ring in a new one. But the holidays are usually the time of year people look forward to the most. We love getting together with our families, eating comforting meals together, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

This year looks a whole lot different thanks to COVID. We might not be with our families this year, some of us for the first time, but that doesn’t mean we’re skipping the holidays altogether. If you’re not sure how to celebrate the holidays this year, and you could use some help getting in the festive spirit, keep scrolling for a few ideas.

Decorate

There’s something about putting up holiday décor that puts a smile on your face. We’re spending so much time in our homes this year that it might as well be festive, right? Forget the old rule that holiday decor shouldn’t go up ’till December first. This year, we need all the cheer we can get!

Watch holiday movies

You may have already cleared your Netflix queue with all the time at home this year, but now it’s time to fill it with holiday classics! Not sure where to start? Try watching The Holiday with Cameron Diaz. It’s a classic, we promise.

Cook

You may be used to mom (or another relative) making an amazing meal year after year each holiday season. Have you ever cooked an entire feast yourself? We’re guilty of not having done this yet. Hop on Pinterest for some recipe inspiration and get cooking!

Video calls

Remember the beginning of quarantine when we were all on Zoom calls with family and friends? It’s time to bring that back! Sure, you can text or call your family, but there’s something special about actually seeing them.

Start your own traditions

It’s been a year full of new experiences, and the holidays should be no different! It’s the perfect time to start some of your own traditions. This could be as simple as buying yourself some holiday pajamas or ordering yourself your favorite takeout. Make a new tradition this year that you can look back on and remember year after year, in quarantine or not.
