How to Stay Indoors and Still Stay Active This Winter

Winter weather can easily put a damper on an active lifestyle. The cold temperatures can prevent you from going jogging, taking a walk, hiking, biking or any outdoor activity you can think of. But, there are lots of ways to stay active and get healthy exercise while you stay indoors all winter long.

Try Climbing

You don’t actually need to go outdoors to go climbing. There are lots of indoor climbing facilities that make it easy for you to get active without also getting exposed to frigid temperatures and freezing wind. You’ll use professional climbing equipment just like you would if you were climbing up an actual rock.

Practice Martial Arts

Martial arts is a great way to burn a lot of calories, and it’s very easy to find places to learn this ancient art. Many different exercise studios provide martial arts instruction. Community centers and gyms offer classes in multiple martial arts disciplines. Give it a try this winter, and see how buff you can get before spring.

Go Dancing

Try a ballroom dancing course, a dance fitness class or even a club dedicated to dancing, and go shake a tail feather. Dancing is a great way to burn calories, and it’s a lot of fun even if you don’t think you have a lot of rhythm. The best way to avoid going stir crazy during winter is to find ways to have fun, and dancing is a fantastic way to do that.

Fall Down a YouTube Rabbit Hole

It’s easy to spend an entire day just watching videos on YouTube, and this is an indoor activity that can keep you busy all winter. There’s just one problem: it’s not very active, is it? Flip the script by watching fitness YouTube videos. Once you start looking, you’ll find lots of them. Do the routines, and when you take YouTube breaks during the winter days, you’ll be getting active at the same time.

Staying Active Indoors

Short days, cold temperatures, food everywhere. It’s easy to pack on extra pounds during winter months and become sedentary when the weather turns cold. But it’s not as difficult as you might think to get active and get lots of healthy exercise during this season, too.
