Five Healthy Habits to Start Implementing for Summer

Summer means warm weather, sunshine, outdoor activities, vacations, and more – and you want to be healthy for all of it! Implement these habits now and continue them throughout the summer.

Drink More Water

It is essential to stay hydrated at all times of the year but especially during the summer when the weather is warmer and you are more active. Drinking water prevents dehydration and helps regulate your body temperature. It also lubricates and cushions joints and protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues.

Get Outdoors

Spending time outdoors has been shown to improve mental health, boost moods, and lower blood pressure. Whether you like swimming, walking, gardening, or practicing yoga, take advantage of the summer weather and get outside!

Apply Sunscreen

The sun might feel good, but the rays can damage your skin. Be sure to apply sunscreen on your arm, legs, face, scalp, ears, and neck – and reapply throughout the day. And don’t forget to protect your lips with a balm containing SPF.

Eat Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are always good for you, but they are especially tasty during summer. Whether it’s cantaloupes, cucumbers, blackberries, or beets, fresh produce is a wonderful way to get your nutrients in.

Know When to Rest

The sun can take a lot out of you. It is important to check in on yourself and take breaks, especially if you are consuming alcohol. You risk contracting heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat rash.

Summer vibes are always great, and you deserve to have a wonderful summer to make memories that will last a lifetime.
