The Lazy Girl’s Skincare Routine

We love a good skincare routine, but life is busy, and we don’t always have the time for all 20+ steps. Today, we’re taking a page out of the lazy girl’s guide to life for when we’re too busy, tired, or just feeling kinda lazy, we can still feel good about our skin.

Wash Your Face

At the very least, make sure you wash your face before you go to bed. Think of it like this, when you go to sleep, your body uses the time to rest and restore energy for the next day – and your skin is no different. After a long day facing the elements, your face also needs time to rest and restore. Plus, sleeping in makeup can clog pores and lead to breakouts.

To make the most of this step, it’s important that you find the right cleanser. We love CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser ($14.59, shop here), a gentle face wash that will remove all the gunk and leave your skin feeling hydrated without weighing it down.

Serum or Spot Treatment (Don’t Worry, We’re Halfway Done!)

Think of serums and spot treatments as a way to treat your skin. Because whether you’re worried about acne, collagen, or a natural glow, there is a serum or treatment out there that can fix it. Not sure where to start? Here are a few of our favorite products:

Dry skin? Try Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Hydrating Serum ($16.20, shop here)

Hyperpigmentation? Try Differin Dark Spot Correcting Serum ($21.97, shop here)

Battling acne? Try Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment ($7.45, shop here)

Time to Moisturize

Our oily friends are probably cringing, but this is why oil-free products exist! Plus, your natural oils don’t hydrate like a good product can. We love Cetaphil Daily Oil-Free Hydrating Lotion ($14.97, shop here).

If it’s nighttime, you’re all done and can rest easy knowing your skin is well taken care of. If you’re doing this routine in the morning, there is one more step.

SPF Is Your BFF

Never leave the house without applying sunscreen to that beautiful face of yours. Sunscreen protects you from harmful UVA and UVB rays, which cause aging skin and hyperpigmentation.

When All Else Fails…

Let’s be real: There are times when three steps feels like 40 steps. On these days, keep some makeup wipes on hand, like Neutrogena Makeup Remover Ultra Soft Cleansing Towelettes ($4.97, shop here), to use in a pinch. While we don’t recommend using these every night, using them once in a while won’t hurt, and at the end of the day, it’s better to use a makeup wipe than to sleep with makeup on. And, hey, there’s always tomorrow.
