Lip oils are the new craze in the beauty world. But are they worth the hype from traditional lip products? Let’s find out…
What Is Lip Oil?
A Lip oil is a product that moisturizes and heals dry, chapped lips. The consistency is very similar to traditional lip gloss, but it goes on in a smoother, non-greasy way. Some lip oils are non-pigmented and best used before bed for full hydrating benefits. More recently though, brands have been coming out with pigmented lip oils to be used as part of your makeup routine.
Lip Gloss vs. Lip Oil
Lip glosses are highly pigmented formulas that sit on top of your lips without penetrating them. They offer light color and gloss but little in terms of hydration. Lip oils, on the other hand, contain an array of hydrating ingredients designed to moisturize and treat – not just tint – your pout.
Why Does Everyone Love Lip Oils?
Lip oils provide healthy, nourishing hydration that isn’t sticky or heavy like many balms or salves. Lip oils tend to be slick but not slippery, making them great for a quick pick-me-up throughout your day.
Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil and Dupes
Some people may attribute the lip oil craze to Dior’s Addict Lip Glow Oil ($35, shop here), which comes in an array of colors. Yet, due to its soaring popularity, it may be hard to get your hands on. Luckily, many dupes have come out that have rave reviews and will save you some money!
