The new year is a time to look back on everything we accomplished in 2020. In the beauty world, that means reflecting on the best products we discovered and the best collaborations between brands.
While any year is rife with beauty influencer collaborations, 2020 saw many exciting collaborations between beauty brands and pop culture icons. From Ulta x Harry Potter to Morphe x Lisa Frank, let’s look back on the year’s beauty collabs and what we loved most about them
- Ulta x Harry Potter
“Yer a wizard, Harry!” -Ulta, probably.
In 2020, Ulta released a collaboration with everyone’s favorite childhood film and movie series, Harry Potter. Their collab was themed by house, with separate collections released for Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. The collection included limited-edition eyeshadow palettes, lip glosses, makeup bags, and more, each designed to bring out the inherent magic in its wearer. Limited products are still available (click here).
- Tonymoly x Minions
In case you thought the Minions craze was (finally) over in 2020, Tonymoly is here to prove you wrong. The Korean skincare and beauty giant collaborated with Dreamworks to bring customers a line of fruit-inspired skincare products with plenty of attitude. Needless to say, the Minions mania is far from over! The collab included sheet masks, acne patches, lip gloss, and more in flavors from strawberry to banana. Limited products are still available (click here).
- Morphe x Lisa Frank
If you grew up in the 90s, you remember the hype around colorful stationery brand Lisa Frank. This year, they released a super limited-edition collection with Morphe. The 3-piece collection—an eyeshadow palette, an eye brush set, and a set of blending sponges—sold out remarkably fast, marking this collab as one of the greatest beauty and business successes of 2020. Thankfully, they’ve been restocked on Morphe’s website (click here).
- Ciaté London x Miss Piggy
The lovable VIP (Very Important Pig) returned for a 2020 collaboration with beauty brand Ciaté London. One of the most commendable parts of this collab has got to be the creative shade names inspired by Piggy’s character: from “Love, Moi” to “Piggy Power,” everything from the lipsticks to the blush palette in this collection has Miss Piggy’s signature touch. You can even get a blush pink handheld mirror featuring the likeness of Miss Piggy herself. Limited products are still available (click here).
- Sephora x To All The Boys P.S. I Still Love You
One of the most anticipated movie releases of 2020 was Netflix’s P.S. I Still Love You, the sequel to their hit teen film To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Likewise, Sephora’s collection for the release—which included sought-after brands like Kaja and Milk Makeup—was equally thrilling…not to mention, released just in time for Valentine’s Day! Maybe we’ll see a restock this February? For now, though, this unique collab is sold out.
