What You Need to Wear Ombre Lips

The term Ombre literally means “to shade or shadow.” Ombre styles can be found in fashion, home decor, hair styles, nail art and more. Ombre lip shades are becoming a very hot look, and the reasons are obvious. The two-tone look of ombre lips is head-turning and beautiful, and it looks difficult to create. But when you know how to get the look, you can design an ombre lip whenever you want.

Liner

To really make an ombre look work, line your lips with lip liner. This will define your mouth, keep the lipstick in place and serve as the foundation for this look. Use a lip liner that’s one shade darker than your natural lip color and outline completely. Clinique Quickliner comes in a variety of lip shades to choose from.

Lipstick

Start with two shades of lipstick, one darker than the other, that are similar in color. Using a lipstick brush, start with the center of your lips and apply the lighter color lightly, and as you move towards the middle, apply more color. Be sure to avoid the edges of your lips.

Next, take the darker lip color and apply it with a lip brush to the outer corners of your lips. Blend gently inwards towards the lighter lip color, but don’t blend too much. Remember, you want to see the different shades playing off each other. Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick is easy to apply with a lip brush, and comes in a huge variety of matte shades.

Add Shine

Lightly apply a little clear gloss to the center of your pout to add shine. The innermost area of your mouth will be lighter and brighter than the rest of your lips, completing the ombre look. Try e.l.f. Lip Lacquer in clear to add intense shine to any lip look.

Ombre Lips

Play around with different shades and colors to create all kinds of ombre lip looks. Red and pink, shades of purple and brown-based shades all look amazing in ombre lip designs. All you need to show off ombre lips are the right products and the right technique. Once you’ve got that, you can start turning heads everywhere you go.
