Real talk for a second: Gaming is a male-dominated industry. Although nearly half (46%) of gamers are female, only 24% of those working in the industry are women. But this is why we are taking time to showcase some of the awesome women who are up in the ranks of significant gaming companies or well-known within the streaming community – or both! Here are five female role models in the gaming industry.

Tina Amini has quite the resume in the gaming industry, dating back to the early 2010s when she wrote reviews for games and covered exclusives for the site Gaming Nexus. Since then, Amini has worked as a games editor for Kotaku and Mashable and as editor-in-chief at IGN.

Andrea Rene seemingly has done it all! She is currently an on-camera host, content creator, and producer for What’s Good Games, a company and podcast she co-founded that covers games commentary, news, and analysis. Before this venture, Rene freelanced for Kinda Funny Games, was the face of GameStop, worked with Facebook Gaming, did editorial work for E3, and covered gaming conventions. She is an extraordinary role model for women wanting to enter the games industry.
Jade Raymond – Founder and CEO of Haven Studios

Jade Raymond’s gaming career began in the early 2000s at Electronic Arts, better known as EA. She has since climbed the corporate ladder, building Ubisoft, where she was the lead creator for the Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell franchises. Most recently, she created the games development company Haven Studios, part of the PlayStation Studios family.

Since the mid-2010s, Alanah Pearce has worked in games journalism, eventually gaining momentum with significant roles at IGN, Funhaus, and Rooster Teeth as a producer and game reviewer. She is currently at Santa Monica Studios working as a game writer (in 2020, she was added to the staff as a writer for God of War). In 2022, Pearce made it onto the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for her work around social issues, including game accessibility.

Imane Anys, more popularly known as Pokimane, began streaming games in 2012 on Twitch, but her following and fandom increased in 2017; that same year, the Shorty Awards named her “Streamer of the Year.” Anys has three channels: one for streaming games such as Valorant, Minecraft, Overwatch 2, League of Legends, and Fortnite, among others; an ASMR channel; and, lastly, a vlog channel.
