If you missed early 2000s MTV shows, we highly recommend watching them because they are peak entertainment. Our personal favorite, Laguna Beach (which can be found on Paramount Plus), was an “unscripted” show that focused on the lives of a handful of students attending Laguna Beach High School in Orange County, California. The first season was filmed in 2004. So dig out that miniskirt and Ugg boot combo, and let’s take a look at the best of the worst fashion moments.
Chokers

Anyone who was anyone back in the early 2000s had a solid black choker – but not the braided plastic ones of the ’90s. We got super-creative and made them out of any material we could get our hands on, like black shoestrings or remnants of tights.
The Tank Top, Jeans, Formal Shoe Combo

Lauren Conrad has been making waves in the fashion industry for years, but we like to think it all started with her trendy ’fits of the early 2000s. This girl rocked odd textile pairings! Don’t forget about the time she attended a fashion show donning layered spaghetti straps, bootcut jeans, and pointed-toe heels. But hey, LC walked so Lauren Conrad could run.
Preppy Perfection

Aside from the polo and miniskirt combination pictured above, Lo was typically rocking some colorful layered tops, burnout tees, and linen pants paired with thick wedges – perfectly embodying some sort of preppy meets girl next door look.
So. Many. Newsboy. Caps.

Not to mention the bucket and trucker hats. It was certainly a time for interesting headwear.
Juicy Hoodies

Now we know that the early 2000s was peak Juicy velour sweatsuit time, but it’s not only the hold this brand had on us. We tried to dress the hoodies up with bootcut jeans and kitten heel flip-flops!
Spaghetti Straps

Concert? Spaghetti strap. Party? Spaghetti strap. Beachwear? Spaghetti strap. And the classiest ’fits featured double straps in contrasting colors. And spaghetti straps were so easy to dress up, too! Just throw on some chandelier earrings, a long necklace with many charms, and a pair of kitten heels or rubber flip-flops.
