Move Over Boots, We’re Buying Loafers This Fall

Sure, boots will always be on-trend in the fall and winter months, but this year we are seeing the resurgence of loafers in a big way. And, these aren’t your dad’s work loafers. The loafers we’re seeing hitting the streets are re-imagined in cool, fashion-forward ways that take this work-wear shoe to the next, very chic level. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites from well-loved designers and brands that will function as a welcome alternative to your basic black boot this season.

By Far Nick Loafer (click here)

This is the loafer of our dreams. The classic leather loafer is brought to life with detachable anklets, allowing you to wear both, one, or none at all depending on your mood and look. Available in five colors and varying textures, if there was ever a shoe to splurge on, this would be it.

We love Dr. Martens for their punky combat boots, but this style combines the perfect amount of classic shaping and statement styling in a simple black loafer featuring a leopard detail at the toe. With a double tassel fringe and Dr. Martens’ signature yellow stitch, these loafers function as an easy alternative to sneakers or combat boots for the season.

Let’s talk about color. Transition out of black and brown with these croc-embossed, teal beauties from Sam Edelman. They look ultra-expensive, but are much more affordable than their cousins at Gucci. This is a shoe you can wear casually with denim or dress up with trousers or skirts.

Who doesn’t love an added dose of height? Just when you thought that loafers pigeonholed you into flats, we found these Vince platforms. They feel super modern and new, while maintaining a classic loafer shape in the upper. Crafted from high quality leather, these shoes offer the simplicity of a loafer with the drama of a platform. Wear with anything from a wide leg pant or jean to a skirt or dress.

While we’re on the less conventional train, let’s take a look at these loafer inspired sling-backs by Jeffrey Campbell. Jeffrey Campbell is known for his statement shoes and chunky heels, and these sling-backs don’t disappoint. This is the perfect transitional heel for fall and can be styled with a sheer ankle sock to give these shoes a feminine edge.

To finish off the roundup, we’re gravitating towards a super-chic, minimalist loafer from Miista. No frills here, but these elegant loafers definitely don’t need them. The shoe features a walkable square heel and memory foam insoles for extra comfort. Designed in London, handcrafted in Spain, made to be worn everywhere.
