The Dyson Airwrap Complete ($549.99, pre-order here), a styling tool that styles and dries hair at the same time – without extreme heat – has taken social media by storm. It uses what’s called the Coanda effect, which uses varying amounts of airflow to get your hair to stick to the barrel. This new hot tool is incredibly versatile but will cost you a pretty penny. So, the question is, is it worth it?
What’s Included?
The Dyson Airwrap comes with six attachments: the pre-styling dryer, which looks like an oval-shaped donut; a soft smoothing brush; a firm smoothing brush; a round volumizing brush; and two curling barrels – 1.2-inch and 1.6-inch (two of each). It all comes in a handy storage case, along with a non-slip mat and a filter cleaning brush. If your hair is longer, you may have more success with the longer version of those barrels, which are sold separately. Additional attachments, including the wide-tooth comb attachment, are also sold separately.
What Are the Benefits?
The Dyson Airwrap claims to cause less heat damage since it styles your hair using air instead of heat. The product regulates itself with a built-in thermostat that keeps the heat below 150 degrees. The product also works faster than blow-dryers and curling irons. It is most effective on wet hair, which is different from your usual curling iron. (You can use the Airwrap on dry hair, but your style will hold longer if you start with damp hair.) The Airwrap also works on most hair types, though the amount of time you spend styling may vary depending on the thickness and length of your mane.
Is the Dyson Airwrap worth it?
You’ll be spending over $500 on this product, so make sure you really want and need this tool before you invest. We recommend checking out some of the tutorials and reviews on YouTube. Overall, there are pros and cons to the tool (and every tool on the market). If the price is worth minimizing heat damage – and saving you time on drying and styling, then this may be the product for you!
