Working out every day is a great goal, but in reality, it’s a lot of work! Here are a few ways to build up the motivation you need.
Make It Fun
Your workouts should be enticing and fun. If you don’t look forward to them, you’re already less likely to do them. If you’re particularly drawn to dance, swap your normal cardio routine for a Zumba class or similar dance-based workout.
Change Things Up
Generally speaking, you should change up your workout routine every three to five weeks to keep yourself enticed and prevent plateauing. Think about how you feel when you do the same thing every day: It gets old quickly! Changing things up keeps your workouts new and exciting.
Time It Right
When it comes down to it, there seems to be a benefit to exercising nearly every time of day. So whether you’re a morning person, a night owl, or neither, there is a time that will work for you: the one you prefer. When you time your workout based on the time of day you feel the most energized, you’re more likely to do it.
Reward Yourself
If you need an incentive to work out, setting up rewards for yourself – whether it’s a massage, a glass of wine, or a piece of chocolate – can be a great motivator. Whatever it takes to get you moving!
Make It a Habit
Making your workout a daily habit is the first step to motivating yourself. When it is built into your everyday routine, you won’t need to think about having to do it. It comes down to repetition. Start by picking a time of day to work out and stick to it.
Rely on a Buddy
Working out with a friend, colleague, or even an acquaintance that visits the gym at the same time as you can be a great motivating tool. Workout buddies hold you accountable, bring out your competitive edge, and can turn your workout into a fun experience.
