Decorating for the holidays is joyful, but it can also be stressful. So we decided to round up the best tips from the pros to make your decorating fun, easy, and beautiful!
1: Tips for the Tree
When choosing a tree, always keep in mind that the more tips it has, the fuller it will look when decorated. So, if you’re shopping for a fake tree, make sure to get a good quality one with fuller branches, which will make it look more realistic.
Second, when adding lights, remember this equation: 100 lights per each foot of the tree. Install the lights by zigzagging back and forth in small sections for a more natural and rustic look. Also, warm lights are far better at giving a lovely holiday feel to your tree, so try to stay away from the blue-ish LED lights as much as you can.
Add your favorite ornaments and some fabric at the bottom to cover up the base of the tree (or a pre-made tree skirt). Scatter your gifts and additional decorations below the tree as a final touch.
2: Tips for Garlands and Wreaths
If you’re using faux garlands, fluff them well before hanging. If you want to make it appear fuller, cedar, juniper sprigs, or pine branches are all excellent additions to your garland.
You can also add as many berry branches, sprigs, and other colors to match your Christmas tree and the rest of the home’s decor. Add some light into the garland in the same zigzag pattern to match, and finally, top with bows and ribbons.
3: Tips for DIY Centerpieces
These centerpieces are so easy to make and add a matching holiday feel to the rest of your home! You can place the centerpiece on your mantle (with some DIY stockings perhaps) or use them as dinner table decor. All you have to do is head to the dollar store, pick up some candle holders, artificial flowers, and a glass jar. You can use leftover ribbon or small ornaments to decorate the jars and make some super festive floral candle holders.
Or, pick up some pine cones and decorate them with glitter or gold/silver paint. Scatter them anywhere you like!
