Hey Bestie, Let’s Boost That Self-Esteem

Self-esteem boost? You mean trusting in your abilities, and qualities, and just believing in yourself overall? Yeah, sign us up we could use some of that. If you’ve ever felt as though you’ve failed or made a mistake or just don’t have faith in your abilities, you may be struggling with your self-confidence. Working on building this up is incredibly important to your well-being and while it may feel impossible, we promise with a little guidance and a little bit of mindfulness, your self-esteem will be fully on the mend.

Take a Social Media Break

Stop comparing yourself to peoples highlight reels, step away from social media and instead go do something that brings you joy. Social media can be used for good, but if you’re focusing on the lives of others and not your own life, this is when social media becomes problematic.

Quit People Pleasing

If you say yes a lot, but find you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed out, then chances are you’re saying yes because you feel obligated to then you’re probably not having a great time. You should always be helpful and supportive when you can, but your self-worth shouldn’t be directly correlated with how much you do for other people.

Careful Who You Surround Yourself With

Think about those closest to you. Do they accept you and lift you up? Or do they judge you for every little thing and bring you down? The people you surround yourself with influence you in a number of ways, so make sure you’re surrounding yourself with positive people who love you and want what’s best for you.

Be Kind to Yourself

We won’t lecture you for too long, but basic self-care practices such as a nutritious healthy diet, exercise, meditation, and good quality sleep have all been linked to higher self-confidence.

Celebrate All the Wins

Did you set a new boundary? Cut out some negative people in your life? Maybe you started practicing positive self-talk? Acknowledge what you’ve done and how it’s going to positively affect your confidence and self-esteem, then celebrate yourself.

Practice Positive Self Talk

Negative self-talk sounds like “I can’t do that”, “I can’t handle that” or “I don’t deserve this” and these words and phrases tend to limit your self-confidence. However positive self-talk is optimistic and tends to foster a whole lot of compassion and confidence. So the next time you think you can’t handle a situation at work or home life feels overwhelming, challenge the negative self-talk with positive self-talk which sounds more like “all I have to do is try” or “at least I’m learning as I go.”

Face Your Fears

No more putting things off, instead, face your fears head-on. It might not be pretty, but moving forward means gaining confidence and even a little progress is still progress.

Make Time for Things You’re Good At

You can think of this as a shortcut to more self-esteem because what happens when you do things you’re good at? You boost your strengths and this helps you believe in yourself more.
