When Queen Rihanna comes out with ANYTHING (music, makeup, lingerie), we pay very close attention. Since the launch of Fenty Beauty in 2017, (shop here), Rihanna has taken the business world by storm with her unparalleled entrepreneurial spirit. That fire has created an empire worth $600 million under French luxury goods brand LVMH, including her groundbreaking makeup line and clothing house, Fenty. (Shop here). She also co-owns Savage x Fenty, a lingerie line with Techstyle Fashion Group. (Shop here).
Rihanna has based much of her business model on the premise of inclusivity—creating products for all sizes, skin tones, genders, and ages at mid-range price points. Her latest venture is Fenty Skin, through her line Fenty Beauty, which simplifies skincare routines into four effective, clean products. Rihanna says, “Fenty Skin is everything I wish I had back then. I wanted it to feel approachable, easy, and to take the pressure off of choosing a routine, so I created one for everyone.”
This skincare line is big on hero ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and Vitamin C-rich Barbados cherry (a nod to Riri’s birthplace). Everything is vegan, gluten-free, and free of mineral oil, oxybenzone, lead, SLS, and plastic micro-beads. Rihanna has high standards for her products: “Creating Fenty Skin was such a personal process. Skincare is so intimate—it’s the first and last thing you put on your face every day and every night. It’s gotta work, it’s gotta feel good, it’s gotta smell great.” Fenty Skin products also contain less than 1% synthetic fragrance.
Let’s breakdown the four Fenty Skin powerhouse products:
Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All-Cleanser, $25 (Shop here)
This creamy cleanser removes dirt, oil, and long-wear makeup without stripping or drying. It comes in a generous squeeze bottle that twists at the bottom for easy dispensing. The peppy pink cleanser is super thick and lathers easily. You only need a pea-size amount, as a little goes a long way. It smells yummy, too—lightly scented with Barbados cherry. It will leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed rather than tight or flaky.
Fat Water Pore Refining Toner Serum, $28 (Shop here)
Fat Water is a “2-in-1 toner-serum that targets pores, improves dark spots, brightens, smooths, and fights shine—all without stripping skin.” One of the main ingredients is niacinamide, a form of Vitamin B3 that supports the skin barrier, improves texture, balances oil production, and benefits all skin types. Use this toner-serum morning and night after cleansing for calm, hydrated, clear skin.
Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30, $35 (Shop here)
If you try one product from Fenty Skin, make it Hydra Vizor. Fenty Skin is on a mission to dispel the myth that darker skin tones do not need sun protection. Say it out loud: ALL skin tones need SPF!
This moisturizer/SPF combo is for all skin types and tones. Check out this impressive list: it’s lightweight, oil-free, and invisible on the skin. It’s makeup-friendly and has no flashback (the white cast you’ll sometimes see in pictures). It also contains niacinamide to combat dark spots and discoloration. The packaging is refillable, which falls right in line with Fenty Skin’s earth-conscious pledge to use recycled materials and eliminate packaging where possible.
Instant Reset Overnight Recovery Gel-Cream, $40 (Shop here)
Instant Reset is a nighttime moisturizer that hydrates, reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and “resets” the skin—leaving it nourished, renewed, and glowing in the morning. It contains niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, which hydrates the skin and helps fade dark spots.
Fenty Skin is another win from Ms. Fenty—was there any doubt? This line is brilliant in its inclusivity, simplicity, and use of skin-loving ingredients designed for all skin types and tones. It is also worth applauding for its refillable packaging and commitment to sustainability. We cannot wait to see what else is coming from Fenty Skin!
