Springtime Wellness Tips
Not sure where to start? We can help! Here are six simple tips for refreshing your health and wellness.
Hit “Reset” on Sleep
Winter’s cold, overcast days are for hibernation. So, by spring, there’s a chance you’re sleeping more than you need. Make an effort to start waking up earlier.
Make Fresh Plates
Spring means more fresh, in-season produce. If you have access to a local farmers market, we highly recommend checking it out. You can also find local and organic fruit and veggies at the grocery store. Look for delicious ways to incorporate more of these foods into each meal. For instance, add fresh berries to your Greek yogurt for breakfast or grill new-to-you vegetables for dinner.
Step to It
The weather is warming up, which means it’s the perfect time to walk more. You can start slow by taking morning or evening walks around your neighborhood or nearby trails. Not only is this good for your physical health, but fresh air and sunshine work wonders for your mental health.
Soak Up the Sun
After a gray winter, you may notice your mood improves during spring; we have the sun to thank for that. Bright light exposure releases serotonin in your body, boosting your mood. Sunshine also provides much-needed vitamin D for bone health and other body functions.
Be Mindful of Allergens
Springtime also means an uptick in allergens. So, it’s never a bad idea to increase how much you vacuum and dust to keep irritants at bay. You may also want to consider a neti pot to keep your sinuses flushed or an air purifier for larger rooms.
Schedule a Checkup
Make an appointment with your doctor to ensure you’re current on all health screenings and immunizations. This also allows you to talk to your doctor about health concerns and review your current medication list.
I love the weather when it is turning into summer.
