The Podcasts We’re Obsessed With

Listening to podcasts is a great way to pass the time while commuting, doing chores, or just while relaxing at home. There are so many great podcasts out there that cover different topics that are entertaining, fun, and sometimes teach us something. Below, we list the podcasts we’re obsessed with. Let us know in the comments if you check any of these out and share any of your podcast recommendations.

Obitchuary

Hosted by best friends Spencer Henry (also the host of another great podcast, Cult Liter) and Madison Reyes, Obitchuary is a delightful podcast you don’t want to sleep on. The hosts share sweet, scathing, outlandish, affectionate obituaries and death notices. They also have segments on funeral traditions (some are a bit bizarre), history deep dives, and the podcast always ends with their “dumb criminals” segment, where they tell us about someone’s typically ridiculous run-in with the law and how they got caught. Henry and Reyes bring humor, lightness, and respect to every episode. New episodes are available every Thursday.

The Lets Read Podcast

Do you love all things spooky? If so, you’ll love listening to The Lets Read Podcast because the episodes are full of spine-tingling stories. They curate and narrate true scary experiences sent in from listeners. Their diverse library of stories covers everything from unsettling encounters with creepy stalkers to the genuinely unexplainable paranormal. They self-describe as wanting to lull you into beautiful nightmares. New episodes are available every Tuesday wherever you listen to podcasts, and more terrifying tales are posted Monday and Thursday on the Lets Read YouTube channel.

Even the Royals

The hosts, Aricia Skidmore-Williams and Brooke Siffrinn, of the popular podcast Even the Rich, bring to us Even the Royals. In this newer podcast, the hosts take us into a deep dive into several royals throughout history, such as Empress Dowager Cixi, King Ludwig, Grace Kelly, and Caroline Brunswick, to name a few. From past scandals to present-day struggles, discover how very human emotions like love, jealousy, and disgust have shaped the lives of royalty and, in turn, the world itself. New episodes are released every Monday.

Dark History

Known for the podcast Murder, Mystery & Makeup, Bailey Sarian brings to us Dark History. In each episode, Sarian picks a moment in time from the US or World History and explores the dark past that has shaped cities, nations, and countries. Some topics she’s discussed in 2024 include J. Edgar Hoover, his spy tactics, pettiness and biases, Secret Asylums, and the truth behind the Challenger Explosion. Each week, a new episode is available on streaming apps or on video on YouTube.

Dear Hank & John

You might know brothers Hank and John Green as bestselling authors or from Vlogbrothers or many of their other endeavors, such as one of our favorite podcasts, Dear Hank & John. The Green brothers tackle life’s big questions (from listeners) with humor and heart, offering unique perspectives and relatable advice. But wait, there’s more! Hank keeps you updated on the latest Martian discoveries, while John fuels his love for the underdog with AFC Wimbledon news. It’s informative, hilarious, and the perfect podcast for anyone who needs a dose of brotherly wisdom.
