The Best Spin-Offs We’re Watching This Season

We love a good spin-off! Whether they are spin-offs of shows that ended more than a decade ago or spin-offs of shows still on our must-watch list, it’s always exciting to see what the creatives have in store for our favorite TV universes. Here are some of the best spin-offs we’re watching this season.

How I Met Your Father

Oh, how we’ve missed you, Hillary Duff! This How I Met Your Mother spin-off pleasantly surprised fans in its first season, and now it’s back for season 2. What are Sophie and her love interest, Jesse, up to? Tune in to find out! There may also be some cameos from HIMYM favorites. Watch now on Hulu.

That ’90s Show

The year is 1995, and the focus is Leia Forman. Who is Leia? Eric and Donna’s daughter! And she’s spending the summer with her grandparents in Wisconsin, getting into trouble with her neighbors just as her parents did two decades prior. Keep an eye out for special guest appearances from the OG That ’70s Show gang! Watch now on Netflix.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Bridgerton was one of the most-watched series in Netflix history, so it’s no wonder why Shonda Rhimes thought it fitting to do a spin-off. In Queen Charlotte, a prequel to Bridgerton, the plot will focus heavily on the historical title character. Of course, drama will ensue once the love story between Charlotte and King George III begins, but isn’t that what we all want? Premieres May 4 on Netflix.

Velma

We all know Mindy Kaling’s reputation as a hilarious and witty actress, which means we love hearing her as the voice of Velma Dinkley in this Scooby-Doo spin-off. It includes an awesome voice cast to say the least. Watch now on HBO Max.

The Last of Us

The Last of Us is technically a spin-off from a video game, but we love it all the same – especially because Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey star in it. Gaze in amazement as scary monsters and new-world characters come together to navigate a fungal pandemic. What could possibly go wrong? Watch now on HBO Max.
