If you’ve been following all the latest news in the music industry, then you probably heard of Rihanna’s upcoming album “R9.”
R9 is the forthcoming ninth album by Rihanna. Her last album “Anti,” was released four years ago in January of 2016. Since the release, fans have not stopped harassing Rihanna for new music. It seems she takes pleasure in making fans wait!
Rihanna posted a video on Instagram joking about not wanting to release her album yet saying “me listening to R9 by myself and refusing to release it.”
This drove even her biggest fans crazy with anticipation as they’ve been waiting for the album for months now, and she even promised in a previous comment that her album was going to be released on Dec 26th, 2019.
As expected, Twitter took this matter into their own hands and turned this into a whole funny/fan theory twitter rage that is both hilarious and entertaining under the hashtag #R9.

While Twitter hilariously did what it does best, others have defended Rih for the delayed album, since she has to juggle between her music career, her beauty empire Fenty, and her newest lingerie business Savage X Fenty.
Very unpopular opinion but can we let Rihanna rest?? The pressure to release R9 is much. Can’t imagine how exhausting it is to be building a beauty + fashion empire amongst other things. And after releasing 8 albums in 10 years! Tired on her behalf!

My theory: Rihanna’s birthday is on a Thursday. She might drop her album right after her birthday at midnight and be like; “thanks for all the bday wishes, here’s my bday gift for y’all”: *DROPS R9* pic.twitter.com/YtY7tCrx9A

What we do know about R9 so far is that it will most likely be a reggae-inspired album as she told Vogue magazine back in 2019. “It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks,” she explained. “Reggae always feels right to me. It’s in my blood. It doesn’t matter how far or long removed I am from that culture or my environment that I grew up in; it never leaves. It’s always the same high. Even though I’ve explored other genres of music, it was time to go back to something that I haven’t really homed in on completely for a body of work.”
While the album is still highly anticipated, we are all so incredibly grateful for the Fenty highlighters. We’ll wait for you RiRi!
