Participating in a snowball fight, building a snowman, and making snow angels are common snow activities. Want to mix it up? Here are some outside-the-box activities to do in the snow.
Snow Painting

Once the snow starts falling, take advantage of that blank canvas. All you need are paint and brushes! Create basic designs or get as complicated as you wish. And if you don’t have paint handy, a mixture of food coloring and water will get the job done.
Blow Snow Bubbles

Blowing snow bubbles is a fun science experiment! How do you blow snow bubbles? Easy! Gather bubble solution and wands. Blow bubbles into the air and watch as a thin sheet of ice forms before your eyes. The bubbles will crystallize and shatter into shimmering pieces! It’s fun for the whole family.
Build a Fire

While it’s difficult to build a fire when the snow is still falling, you can make one with snow on the ground. Just ensure the logs are completely dry and place them on a board. Under the right conditions, you can even make s’mores!
Do a Winter Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts keep everyone entertained! Create a list of scavenger hunt items like animals, plants, festive winter sightings, and color-themed decorations. Get creative. You might even want to include “collecting items” for another fun activity once you get inside.
Study Snowflakes

Did you know that snowflakes have many characteristics similar to fingerprints? Each one is different from the next. To study them, grab a piece of cardboard and a magnifying glass. Watch as flakes fall onto the board. Then, hold the magnifying glass to the cardboard and find each little drop’s imperfect differences.
