Women should support other women; what better way to do so than by supporting women-owned businesses? Here are just a few female-founded companies that are well worth your hard-earned money. Trust me. I have personally tried every single one.
Leahlani Skincare (Shop here)
This skincare line is formulated in Hawaii by Leah Klasovsky, a holistic skincare expert. She aims to create products that treat skin issues and help relax any woman after a long day. Her products are Hawaiian-themed with beautiful colors and textures that feel luxurious on the skin. The line is extensive and is designed to treat a host of skincare issues. I purchased Happy Hour, a balancing serum, and it was perfect on my oily skin. It works well under makeup and as part of my nighttime regimen. It alleviates inflammation, neutralizes redness, and provides soothing antioxidants while protecting the skin from free radicals. It is simply bliss.
Good Clean Wine (Shop here)
I have purchased several of these wines over the last year, and they do not disappoint! The founders aimed to create a wine “with minimal intervention, few to no additives and more natural processes.” They are made in Europe and designed to go hand in hand with a healthy lifestyle. Now we all know the amount of wine you drink is directly proportional to the hell you feel the next day, but it does make sense that a minimally processed wine may not hit as hard. The selection is small but mighty. My personal favorites are the Good Clean Red, Good Clean Spumante, and Good Clean Spumante Rose. These are proper, delicious, and high-quality wines that can be enjoyed on all occasions. Customer service and shipping are excellent as well.
Harlem Candle Company (Shop here)
This elegant candle and home fragrance brand was founded in 2014 by Teri Johnson. She was inspired by her love of fragrance and jazz and the culture of Harlem. These candles are LUSH—sexy, unique, and super high quality. The scent lingers for hours after burning, and they look so chic on a coffee table. Their burn time is about 80 hours. I cannot resist picking them up at random points throughout the day to inhale all that goodness. Ellington and Speakeasy are my favorites; they are adorable and addictive.
The Sill (Shop here)
What better way to cheer someone up than a personalized plant delivered to your very own home? I recently gifted these plants this past holiday season, and I have to say, I hit it out of the park. The mission of The Sill “is to make the experience of discovering the perfect potted plants as wonderful as the plants themselves.” The plants are broken down into different categories to fit lifestyle and upkeep, all of which are explained in detail. You then get to customize the plantar color and size for your recipient. Plant care directions are provided as well as gift options. You cannot go wrong with The Sill’s plants!
McBride Sisters Collection (Shop here)
This wine collection from sisters Robin and Andrea recently became the largest Black-owned wine company in the United States. It is also inclusive, accessible (Trader Joe’s, Target, Total Wine, to name a few), socially aware, and sustainable. Most importantly, the wine is EVERYTHING—high quality and super delicious. The wines may be purchased individually, by collection, wine club, and twelve or six-pack bundles. They also have canned samplers of spritzers. My personal favorites are the Sauvignon Blanc, the Central Coast California Red Blend, the Black Girl Magic Sparkling Brut, Sparkling Brut Rose, and the Black Girl Magic Rose Riesling. I have loved every single one! They readily available, easy to buy, and delicious. Yes, please!
