What’s Old Is New Again: Grandmillennial 101

You probably know by now that fashion trends always circle back around. (It was only a matter of time before babydoll tees and high-waisted mom jeans returned.) But making “old new again” takes on new meaning with “grandmillennial” fashion, which involves taking inspiration from decades before us and channeling our inner granny-chic. Here are three pieces that we, as grandmillennials, can’t live without.

A Floral Dress

Whether you’re down with the grandmillennial style or not, floral maxi dresses should be a part of your summer wardrobe. They’re flowy and breezy and are the ultimate alternative to pants. And while there are very few rules to achieving the grandmillennial look, it’s always best to ask yourself: Do I look like my grandma’s curtains…but in a good way? If the answer is yes, then congrats, you’ve achieved just the look.

A Silk Scarf (or Several!)

Silk scarves are super-versatile and challenge our creativity. Our advice? Check out some old photos of women donning them, then look at your wardrobe and see how you can incorporate them. We love to wear them in our hair with an eyelet tank top, cropped light-wash jeans, and woven flats.

Accent Pants

Grandmillennial style is all about having loud pieces. You can quiet them down or pile on as many prints as you like. Floral pants, for instance, perfectly encapsulate the retro inspiration, and the overall shape is flattering on all body types.

Our Pick: ASOS Reclaimed Vintage Inspired Pants in Retro Floral Print ($42, shop here)

The best way to find items for your grandmillennial look is to scour your local thrift stores and see what pieces speak to you. Be on the lookout for funky patterns, bright colors, interesting silhouettes, and, of course, oversized bauble accessories.
