We should all want to be the main character of our lives. But if you don’t necessarily feel like the main character, you can at least dress like it! Let’s talk tips for dressing like you are the most important character in your story. (Because you are!)
Know Your Style

This is vital information across the board, but if you’re going for main character vibes, you have to know what you’re about and stick to it. Think of it as channeling your inner Ms. Frizzle. (Who else could ever pull off a solar system dress complete with the statement earrings?)
Be Audacious

Don’t shy away from mixing bold prints or colors. After all, you are the main character, so don’t be afraid to demand attention. Consider pairing a bright, bold top and blazer with jeans. When it comes to shoes, you can keep your top the focal point by opting for a neutral shoe, or go all out and stay bold in your shoe choice. If you’re a neutral queen, prints can be bold in neutrals, too, and we are suckers for geometric shapes. Consider printed linen pants paired with a short-sleeve printed button-down. No matter how you rock it, your ’fit will look effortless and chic.
Make a Statement

Main characters live for statement pieces, which can be as simple as brightly colored cat-eye sunnies or as extravagant as a hot-pink feather coat.
This Monochromatic Moment

Monochromatic outfits make a statement because the wearer must combine several seemingly similar pieces into an effortless, coordinated look. And what is more “main character” than that? Just don’t forget the number one rule when it comes to monochrome: It does not need to be the same shade, only the same color.
Basic Build-Up

There is no shame in starting with a base and getting crazy from there. For example, you can still transform a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt into something magnificent; you just need a special piece to do the work, like a vintage silk scarf, a crochet granny-square cardigan (once it cools off), or even a vest. (Just try it!)
Heading to the Gym? Make It Fashion

Don’t get us wrong, we’re big fans of black leggings and oversized T-shirts, but with all of the incredible athleisure options these days, why not put together a look that screams “main character”? We love biker shorts because they provide just the right amount of coverage and can create dimension with a cropped sweatshirt. And, you probably already know that visible socks and retro sneakers are a must!
