How do you know which option is right for you? Do you want lotion, gel, spray, or cream? And should you opt for an oil-free formula or one with added minerals? Get all the answers here!
What You Want
In general, if you suffer from acne, you should always use non-comedogenic products. When it comes to sunscreen, that typically means oil or gel formulas in lieu of lotions and heavy creams. You should also seek gentle and/or soothing products with ingredients such as zinc oxide and niacinamide. In addition, you want something light and hydrating enough for you to wear all of the time since sunscreen isn’t just for when you’re outside. Skin damage can come from many sources, including the blue light from your phone and computer screens!

Application Tips
It may not be your sunscreen that is causing your acne. Before applying, make sure your face is clean, so you don’t trap dirt and bacteria underneath. Likewise, your hands should be freshly washed before touching your face. To remove your sunscreen, use a gentle facial cleanser to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. You should never wear sunscreen to bed!
