A lot of people are obsessed with HBO’s Mare of Easttown, and rightfully so. But with all the attention on Kate Winslet, we couldn’t help but think back to one of our all-time favorite Winslet movies: 2004’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

In case you’ve never seen the film, we’ll quickly recap the plot: After a painful breakup, Joel (Jim Carrey) finds out his ex-girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has him erased from her mind. He is so heartbroken that he decides to undergo the same procedure. While the procedure is happening, Joel relives his memories with Clementine, starting with the fight that ended their relationship, then going back to happier moments. He soon realizes he doesn’t want to forget Clementine, so they attempt to hide from the procedure in other memories in Joel’s brain. Finally, we see Joel’s very first memory of Clementine, which was the day they met. We’re left with four gut-wrenching words: “Meet me in Montauk.” Joel wakes up with no recollection of Clementine, and on a whim, decides to go to Montauk. We don’t want to spoil anything, so that’s all we’re going to tell you!

Today, we’re focusing on Kate Winslet’s amazing wardrobe in this film. Her character is a free spirit with some underlying self-esteem issues. But from her colorful hair to her mismatched patterns, she appears to have all of the confidence in the world. Here are our favorite fashion moments from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

In this scene, Clementine takes on the role of Joel’s babysitter. This incredible vintage dress is complete with fringe and white go-go boots. And, of course, we can’t overlook the brilliant red hair.

The graphic ringer tee, the camo cargo pants, the Converse..this look is so delightfully early 2000s. It is also a prime example of the fashion revival we’re seeing. If you’re looking for inspiration, look no further than Clementine.

This is a subtle look, but edgy and full of personality. We’re ready to copy this black dress, black choker, crushed velvet coat combination now, but unfortunately, we will need to wait for chillier nights to pull it off.

We’re not sure if it’s the red pants, graphic tee, and furry coat or that this scene is so raw and full of emotion… Either way, it is certainly on our minds, eternally.
