The Perks of Being Single

In a world that places romantic comedies and love songs on a pedestal, telling someone you’re single can sometimes earn you a sympathetic tilt of the head – that “You’ll find someone soon” you didn’t know you were asking for. But here’s the thing: There are a lot of perks to being single! Don’t believe us? Here are just a few of them.

All Time Is YOU Time

When you’re single, there’s no need to have to schedule self-care or “me days.” Your time is your own, so you can give yourself alone time whenever you need it! However, when you’re in a relationship, your time becomes divided, and often you won’t realize how much time you spend with your SO until you have a second to yourself. So take the time to blow out your hair, spend a couple of hours learning how to do gel nails, or learn that new subject you’ve always wanted to learn about. Who’s gonna stop you?

Figure Out Your Future

Being alone means having dedicated time to figure out exactly what you want to do in life. There’s no need for compromise or relying on another person to plan big life changes. Your future is your own, and though there’s nothing wrong with making these plans while in a relationship, now you have the reassurance that you’ve made the executive decisions you needed to.

Live on a Whim

There’s a level of freedom that comes with being single. While most people in relationships will say they are still in charge of their own lives, they still have to think about their partner in time-based decisions: from when they can plan vacations to when they can have nights out with their friends. Being single allows you to do what you want, when you want – with little to no heads-up required.

You Save Money

Splitting dates, buying gifts, and spoiling your significant other can be a lot of fun, but it can cause your bank account to suffer. When you’re single, all your money is your own – so you can save it, spend it, or splurge on yourself when you think you deserve it! Outside of gifts, you’ll also save money on granular things like grocery bills.

More Time With Others

When you’re in a relationship, you might not see your family and friends as much as you used to. As a single person, you have the time and space in your schedule to pen in multiple friend nights a week or call your parents more. These platonic relationships are just as important to nurture as any romantic relationship!

Self-Fulfillment

Though healthy relationships are a great way to feel like your best self, being single teaches you that you don’t need a partner to fill those “holes.” You can love yourself just as much as someone else can and find yourself just as beautiful as a partner would. Hearing it from a romantic partner is great, but hearing it from yourself and believing it can be even more fulfilling.
