There are a ton of lists out there about the greatest TV romances, but when we think about TV relationships that stand the test of time, it’s the BFFs that stand out to us. Here are some of the TV besties we all wish we had.
Lorelai and Rory Gilmore – Gilmore Girls

Yes, they’re mother and daughter, but we would argue that their friendship was the heart and soul of the show. If you’ve not seen Gilmore Girls, let us catch you up: Lorelai had Rory at 16, and instead of raising he daughter around her wealthy yet emotionally unavailable parents, she moves to the town of Stars Hollow. We hope their relationship inspires mothers and daughters to understand that they can be there for each other in different ways.
Abbi and Ilana – Broad City

Four and three and two and one. These besties are figuring out life together while getting into numerous comical situations. This relationship is the type that doesn’t know the meaning of “TMI,” and they can honestly talk about anything. They hype each other up, take an interest in each other’s hobbies, and love each other for who they are.
Grace and Frankie – Grace and Frankie

After their husbands fall in love and divorce them, these 70-somethings become best friends. Grace and Frankie’s relationship is a lesson in finding new, meaningful friendships later in life. This warm and witty relationship gets us all kinds of excited to grow old with our own best friend.
Jess and Cece – New Girl

There’s nothing sweeter than a childhood best friend you take into adulthood. So if you’ve had the same bestie since you were a kid, one that remembers every embarrassing moment and is there for you through it all, then hold on tight to them. Cece grounds Jess without making light of her dreamer ways, and Jess is consistently there to encourage and support Cece.
Robin and Steve – Stranger Things

We immediately knew Robin and Steve would be a friendship force to be reckoned with, but when Robin came out to Steve? That was huge. Robin felt comfortable with Steve, and he accepted her just as she was – as it should be. As their relationship progresses, Robin helps Steve find his way through the chaos and saving their friend group on multiple occasions.
April and Ron – Parks and Recreation

When you think of unlikely friendships that just make sense, you think of the dynamic of April Ludgate and Ron Swanson. There are a million reasons to root for this friendship, from the witty banter and trips to Food and Stuff to hospital visits and the occasional heart-to-heart conversations. Somehow, this aloof apathetic pair understands each other perfectly, and at the end of the day, isn’t that what we all want?
