Indoor Activities to Do With the Kids Besides Watching Television

Looking for some fun indoor activities to do with the kiddos (other than watching television)? You’ve come to the right place! Here are some of our favorite ideas! Trust us, you’re bound to have fun, too!

Build a Fort

Think back to when you were a kid. Did you love building forts? Us, too! Gather supplies like pillows, cushions, blankets, boxes, and other stabilization tools. Playtime inside will be so fun, they may want to sleep in their creation overnight.

Visit the Board Game Closet

Monopoly, Life, Sorry, Guess Who…whip out your old favorites (or head to Walmart or Target for some affordable options), and set the kids up for some good ol’ fashioned, screen-free quality time.

Sing Some Tunes

If you have a karaoke machine, great; if not, you can look up some karaoke renditions of your favorite songs online. Grab a speaker, pick a tune, and use a hairbrush as a makeshift microphone. Sing along with your favorite artists and bust a move for entertainment’s sake.

Have a Treasure Hunt

Kids always love treasure hunts! Find some Easter eggs or other small containers that you can put goodies in. Pick what prizes you’re going to use – money, candy, notes, rocks, marbles, etc. – then find some creative places to hide them throughout the house for the kids to discover!

Read Together Aloud

For some intimate quality time, grab one of their go-to books or start with something new. Cuddle up under some blankets on the couch and read out loud to one another.

Rearrange their Rooms

Even though you’re the one doing the heavy lifting, it’s still a ton of fun to have the kids participate in moving their furniture around. Letting them help will make them feel included and independent in their decision-making. Assign them to make their bed, put their shoes away, or decorate the tops of their nightstands.

Hide and Seek

A game for all ages! For little kids, be sure to set boundaries on where they can hide. For older kids, try hide and seek in the dark – spooky!
