Family-Friendly Holiday Activities to Enjoy This Season

If you are looking for activities to partake in this winter, we’ve got you covered! Here are some of our favorite family-friendly holiday activities.

Build a Snowman

If you don’t mind the cold, building a snowman is a fun activity the entire family can enjoy (assuming, of course, that there is snow on the ground). This can be a team effort – or everyone can work individually with some friendly competition to see who creates the best! Check out this post from Life as Mama for some fun snowman ideas!

Decorate Gingerbread Houses

If you don’t love outdoor activities in the wintertime, opt instead to bring the fun inside and create gingerbread houses with your loved ones. You can all work on one house together, or you can host a decorating competition where everyone tries to make the best house and vote on the winner. To learn how to create a homemade gingerbread house, watch this tutorial video from Sally’s Baking Addiction.

Holiday Cookie Exchange

Baking cookies is a traditional holiday event that will never go out of style. You can easily involve others by hosting a cookie exchange, where anyone who wants to participate makes a batch of their favorite or signature cookies for the others. This way, each participant only needs to make one type of cookie but leaves with multiple flavors to take home to their family. Looking for some holiday cookie inspiration? Christmas Light Tour

For some, a Christmas light tour involves driving around to different neighborhoods to admire the Christmas lights. For others, this activity is an outdoor extravaganza, such as at a local zoo, in which you walk around and admire a professionally decorated lights show. Either way, this activity is beautiful, magical, and full of holiday spirit. Bonus points if you can visit one or more of the best Christmas light displays in the country!

Holiday Movie Marathon

Lastly, if you’re a homebody looking for something to do in front of the fireplace, a holiday movie marathon is the perfect event. Make some holiday-themed treats and drinks, then sit back and enjoy your favorite Christmas films. Whatever you select, it’s a relaxing way to get into (or give yourself a break from) the holiday spirit.
