Skirts in the fall may seem like a total no-go, but brands like Sacai are saying otherwise. Lengthy skirts offer juxtaposition to the miniskirt trend we’re seeing revived this summer, but you have to pick the perfect skirt to make them wearable this fall. A good autumn skirt will have a tapered cut or slits to prevent the fabric from swallowing your lower half.

Though we typically lean for pastel colors and light textures during the spring, Rodarte broke the mold, showing us how incredible these colors and textures can look in the fall. Delicate fabrics, collars, bows, and feminine prints and shapes are paired with structured coats and masculine outerwear to show contrast. The details in this approach to fashion evoke the “twee” era of the ’60s and ’70s.
The last few years, we were told to brave the chilly weather with the ’80s-style puffer jackets, but this year, the statement jacket is back! Comme des Garçons and Louis Vuitton made outerwear the unsung stars of their runway shows and have us ready for the temperature to drop.
